              Cinema
                    Fan 2 / 9 / 00
There is a propeller fan built into the rear gable of a derelict cinema on
the Crumlin Rd. The cinema has been derelict for years; it has even been burnt
out several times by local bored kids.

One time one guy got stuck on the roof as it was ablaze. The fire brigade had
to rescue him with theirextension ladders. His presence on the roof of a smouldering
cinema was a bit incriminating. To say the least. The fan kept whirring away
through the whole affair. It is still whirring away, a wind driven silent Cyclops.
              'About Town'
consists of a series of incidental stories from around Belfast
gathered over the period of two months. These stories are used
to attempt to map the city in a verenacular personalised way.
              Belfast is
a city frequently represented in the printed media but the
representations of the city in newspapers are often restricted
to familiar cliches of an unlivable place. This article takes
the form of a map, acknoweledging it as an editorial document
where select information is included or left out according
                  to the maps function.
